  • Hong Kong is considered a tax haven as it has a single and simple tax system - no capital, dividend or value-added tax; only profits derived in Hong Kong are taxable. The corporate tax rate is at a very competitive rate of 16.5% and personal tax rate is 15% (for fiscal 2008/2009).
  • Laissez-faire government with minimal bureaucratic interference. On the other hand, support from the quasi-government subsidized Trade Development Council (TDC) to the small and medium enterprises (SME) have gone on to show that why Hong Kong exporters are so successful.
  • The cost of establishing a full branch office, with (very low business activities) is approximately US$2,000 per annum, or less than US$200 per month.
